Tryouts are finally over and our boys move onto Squirt B for 2011-2012!! Congrats to TJ Santaita and Doug Smith who moved up to Squirt A!

The 2nd annual charity hockey game between the NJ Devils Alumni and the Skylands Kings Coaches which benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will take place Saturday, April 2 at 12:10 pm at Skylands. Both Coach Pete an I will be taking part in this game and would love to have our family there to show support for this charity. Tickets are $7 and 100% of the proceeds go to the chariry as the rink has donated the ice and both coaches have waived their appearance fees!

Just keep in mind….DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO.

The New Jersey High School ice hockey state playoffs have been going on over the past week and we’re down to the final four in each divison. The champiosnhip games are this Sunday, March 13 at the Prudential Center.

Public B (small schools) – 1:00pm
Public A (large schools) – 3:00pm
Non Public – 5:00pm

If you have time, I strongly urge you to take your son to see one of the games. The Non Public game will be the best hockey you’ll see in the state. Tickets are very inexpensive and are general admission which means you can sit anywhere in the lower level of seats. Hopefully we’ll see you there.

The tournament schedule has been released and all games have been posted on the website. I will be adding an itinerary to the documents section of this website within 1 day, so check back. It will have all the important information (rink addresses, game times, phone numbers, etc.)

We unfortunately have a game on Sunday, so we won’t be able to attend the Providence Bruins hockey game that same day. However they are playing on Friday night. Our first game isn’t until 1:10 pm on Saturday afternoon, so I’m not sure what everybody’s plans will be since you now can drive straight up Saturday morning and not have to stay over on Friday night. We can all talk at the rink over the weekend to see who is still interested in attending the Bruins game on Friday night.

I just got the word that tryouts for Kings for next season will be Tuesday, April 12th through the 14th. The times have not been set up yet, but as in years past, the lower levels usually get the earlier time slots. If you are considering trying out for next season, it is important that you make it to tryouts. If for some reason you cannot, there are absentee tryout forms that can be filled out. If you have any questions regarding the tryout and selection process, you can ask me at the rink and I will do my best to answer them. I hope to see everybody there!!
