Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the Kings Squirt Wales 2012-2013 website. As we get into the season, we will be posting more information here with regards to our team. All parents have access to post pictures, leave messages and invite fans (grandparents, friends, etc.), so please feel free to share. This is our own private space, so sharing of pictures, thoughts and ideas is encouraged!
For those who were on the team in prior years, those previous seasons are available on the season tab on the top left-hand corner of the home page. Our 2011-2012 slideshow is accessible through a link on the link box in the left column, as well as other relevant hockey websites. We will be keeping our schedule, game stats, important forms and all other pertinent season information on this page. Please let us know what you think of the website, and if you have any suggestions.
Here are a few dates to save:

Saturday, August 25th – Team Summer Party (time and location TBD)

Summer Training Camp will be either week of August 20th or August 27th – we will follow up as soon as we have an exact date (it will be M-F for 1.5-2 hours per evening)

Spring Training – all dates have been posted, thank you for getting back to me with any conflicts. We look forward to seeing everyone (or most of you) on Thursday

Tournaments – we will participate in 2 out-of-state tournaments, Coach Scott will provide more details on these, but please save the following dates:
- Silver Sticks in Washington D.C. – Thanksgiving Nov 22-25th, 2012
- Bell Cup in Ottawa, Canada – Christmas Break Dec 28, 2012 – Jan 1,
2013

Fundraising – Karen has already started fundraising efforts (aiming to pay for bus to Ottawa and other team tournament expenses) – start saving your clothes and toys for Spring Clothing Drive (donations due by May 31st). More details will follow shortly. We hope to have most of our fundraising efforts completed by early in the season.

Phil Stevens is running a Sunday Night power skating clinic @ Skylands every Sunday at 7:20pm.
This clinic is aimed towards players who are working towards superiority on ice. This fastpaced power-skating clinic will supply the player with the right instruction and expertise required to excel in correct skating techniques. Players will develop ultimate accuracy, power and swiftness in this clinic.

Dear Parents,
Below is a link to an amazing article on the The Post Game wesbite. It was given to me by a very good friend, who also coaches children, and I thought it was perfect to forward to everyone. Please read the article because I think, at times, we all may have fallen into the nightmare parent category. I know I have, not by choice, but by chance. We are a victim of the circumstances around us and we tend to forget the real purpose of what we are trying to do. We are trying to help build the lives of these young boys in order to help them succeed in life. We get caught up in the now and forget about the future. So over the next two weeks as our season winds down, step back, take a deep breath and try to see things through the eyes of your children…..my boys!
